Martyn Reding is a Designer and Creative Director based Brighton, England. For more than 10 years Martyn has developed an individual approach to design that combines traditional brand focussed design with progressive digital design. His work goes beyond the conventional process of designing for brands and uses emerging technology to create brands which, not only exploit print and advertising methods, but also utilise the web, mobile and social media.

Since graduating in 1998, Martyn has led many design projects for clients ranging from global brands such as Kodak, Penguin, BBC and IKEA to publicly funded organisations and small start-ups. Outside of his client work he his involved in a number of creative industry organisations and design events.

He also hates writing about himself in the third person.

About the book

Synopsis
The idea of the project is to collate examples of brands that have used the digital media to connect with thier customers. Brands who have extended their product or services in to new technology and use it to build a brand that not only talks to people, but also listens to them.

Process
Because the key idea within the book is about using the web to share and collaborate, I have decided that this book take the same approach. I will be detailing the entire writing, publishing and production process on this site. Samples will be shared, opinions will be canvassed and comments will not only be used to help shape the book, some of them will appear within the book.

Yes that’s right. I intend on including you in the writing process. If you have any construcutive feedback, then please do share it. The most insightful comments will be woven in to the book itself, so you’ll get to see your name in print.

Publishing
Nothing has been formally agreed with a publisher at this stage. So I am exploring different routes to publishing the book, when it’s finished. I have spoken with major UK based publishers and some international groups. I have also considered various self publishing and fundraising routes. Over the coming months I will post my thinking and decisions on this site.

If you have experience of working with different publishers, I’d love to hear about it. Feel free to share.
